Web Site Policy
Adopted June 4, 2008

Introduction: The World Wide Web (WWW or Web) is becoming an increasingly important electronic communication medium. The quality of information presented on the Club’s Website, ‘www.rosevillekiwanis.org, hereafter called site, plays an important role in shaping a positive image of the Roseville Kiwanis Club.

Purpose: The Website Content Policy is intended to set the Club’s standards for representation within this medium. The policy seeks to enhance the Club’s mission by clarifying responsibilities of authors and encouraging accurate, useful and attractive presentations of information.

Procedure: The Website Content Policy applies to publication of all information related to the Roseville Kiwanis public and private Internet sites, although some policies only apply to the public site, as indicated.

Policy 1: The site is for Club Business Only. The following subject matter is considered inappropriate for the site:
·      References to political issues or sites. However election issues like get out the Vote or promoting voting is permitted.
·      Product or service endorsements or advertising, except as approved by the Board of Directors.
·      Personal items for sale (i.e. house, boat, yard sale, etc.).
·      Links other than those authorized by Webmaster or Board of Directors.  
·      Profanity, pornography, or any other material deemed inappropriate by the Webmaster or Club Board of Directors.

Policy 2: All links must have some direct relevance to the Club or its citizens.

Policy 3: Links are permitted to US or State governmental agency websites as well as other websites maintained by or on behalf of national, state, regional, or local governmental or public educational agencies.  Links are also permitted to other Kiwanis organizations at the local, regional, national or international levels, as well as other service clubs that serve a similar purpose as the Roseville Kiwanis Club (i.e. Lyons, Rotary, etc.), subject to any other restrictions on this list.

Policy 4: If a website or the website’s sponsors are substantially engaged in commercial, political, or unlawful activities, the Club will not permit a link to the website.

Policy 5: The Club reserves the right to reject any link it deems inappropriate. By including a link on the site, it in no way indicates an endorsement of that web site or a verification of the information on that page.

Policy 6: Other web sites are free to include links directing users to the site. Prior approval is not necessary. However, as a courtesy, the Club would appreciate notification that a link to the site has been included on an outside site.

Policy 7: (Applies to public site only) This website will contain a weekly newsletter.  The contents of the newsletter must therefore adhere to the policies in this list.  From time to time, the newsletter will publish information deemed to be semi private (semi-private items listed below).  Members will be given an opportunity to opt out of having these items published on their behalf in the newsletter at membership dues time when dues are collected.  
    Semi-Private items include, but are not limited to:
    ·       Birthdays
    ·       Wedding Anniversaries
    ·       Personal achievements and awards

Policy 8: (Applies to public site only) Member phone numbers and personal email addresses will not be published to the public website, without first obtaining permission from the member.

Policy 9: (Applies to public site only) Pictures and names of minors included on the website or newsletter requires written permission from guardian of the minor.
